IRVINE, Calif. --SBC Medical Group Holdings Incorporated (Nasdaq: SBC) (“SBC Medical” or the “Company”), a Medical Services Organization providing management support across a wide range of healthcare fields, today announced that Dr. Masaaki Ban, Director of Roppongi Ladies Clinic Ikebukuro, a fertility specialty clinic under SBC Medical's management support, has published a collaborative research paper as lead author in the Journal of the Japan Society for Reproductive Medicine (Vol. 43, No. 1, 2026), an academic journal of the Japan Society for Reproductive Medicine. The paper is titled "Uncertainty in Aneuploidy Assessment in Preimplantation Genetic Testing: Two Cases of Reclassification as Mosaic Following PGT-A Reanalysis, Resulting in Healthy Births."
The Journal of the Japan Society for Reproductive Medicine is an academic publication that brings together researchers and clinical specialists in fertility treatment and reproductive science. The paper presents insights regarding the interpretation of test results in PGT-A (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy)*1, a methodology widely used in fertility treatment to improve implantation rates and reduce the risk of miscarriage, and highlights the importance of individualized, informed decision-making support for each patient.
Among embryos assessed as aneuploid through PGT-A, a subtype known as "mosaic embryos," in which normal and abnormal cells coexist, may be present, and the evaluation and clinical management of such embryos continue to be actively discussed in the field. The paper reports two cases in which embryos initially assessed as aneuploid were reclassified as mosaic embryos upon reanalysis, ultimately resulting in the birth of healthy infants. These findings are expected to deepen understanding of the importance of result interpretation and reassessment in PGT-A, and to inform the development of flexible, individualized decision-making support and more thorough clinical frameworks suited to each patient's unique circumstances.
As technological innovation continues to advance in the rapidly evolving field of reproductive medicine, the importance of knowledge sharing and academic collaboration — beyond the clinical setting alone — has grown considerably. Meeting the increasingly diverse needs of patients requires not only the adoption of cutting-edge techniques, but also broad perspectives and flexible thinking. SBC Medical remains committed to promoting advanced initiatives through academic activities and research collaborations, and to building a more reassuring medical environment for patients and advancing the field of reproductive medicine.
*1 PGT-A (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy): A test used to examine the chromosomal composition of embryos obtained through in vitro fertilization (IVF), employed for the purpose of improving implantation rates and reducing the risk of miscarriage.
